What is Mausolea?

Mythology has always inspired me.

Throughout human history, in every corner of the world, whispered stories carried down through the generations, tales of heroes and gods, lessons, and ancient customs, as a way to give flesh to the fears and histories of mankind.

And in every mythology of every culture, there are stories about death, and what comes after. These stories are always self contained, prohibitive of any other version of the same ideas to exist in the same universe. But what if they did?

Mausolea is the name I've given to this place, a realm comprised of all the worlds afterlife myths, all the heavens, hells, and everything in-between, side by side, combined into one place, and twisted into a weird alien reflection of our own world.

About the creator

My name is Jason Engle, and I have worked in the gaming industry for almost 20 years. During this time, I have contributed to many different games, worlds, and characters for various publishers. 

In 2011, I had reached a point where my professional work wasn't satisfying, and I was no longer enjoying my job. So I started searching for something that inspired me again, and I collected many different kinds of art and books, and realized that so many of them shared similar themes and visual ideas, and since that time, I have tried to express that theme in the work I have done for Mausolea. I hope you like it as much as I have enjoyed creating it.
